September 2 - "Ugly Anne" is one of many vessels that call Perkin's Cove, Maine their home port. I love the marina village here just south of Ogunquit. The reflection in the water is great, too.

January 20 – Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine has been called “the most photographed lighthouse in North America.” I love this lighthouse which was constructed between 1787 and 1791 at the directive of George Washington. Because it is so well known, I have hesitated to use it as a subject for my daily picture. The new snow, however, gave me a reason, as I had not seen it myself covered in snow. You can see more pictures in my Lighthouses gallery. Near the center of the picture Ram Island Ledge Light can be seen.

July 16th - Today is the first day of vacation. We are camping in the mountains of eastern Pennsylvania. This is a photo of thelocal stream and small waterfall. I like the cotton candy effect of the water as well as the clarity of the reflection above the falls.

October 26 - After a few days with no time to pick up my camera, today I am back at it. Last night a storm blew across Maine on its way out to sea leaving behind a beautiful day. Maine is not known for high waves, unless a windy storm is right offshore blowing in just the right directon. In this shot, I am standing in the shadow of the Old Orchard Beach pier which is the shadow in the lower right. The land in the distance is Prout's Neck in Scarborough. A kayaker landed on shore after fighting the heavy surf just shaking his head.

January 2 - I wanted to share one more from New Year's Eve. I took several exeperimental shots of the Christmas tree. This 8 second exposure allowed me to zoom all the way in and back out during the exposure giving me this neat effect.

June 11th - I did not have much time to take pictures today. We picked up my step-daughter today and her train was almost 45 minutes late. That did give me a few minutes to photograph the empty platform as the sun went down, though. I really don't like the electric wires but they would be difficult for me to get rid of so I just accept what is there.

May 4 - Several members of the church where I work go out of their way to keep the front yard pretty. These are some pansies that are in bloom.

December 12 – In case you didn’t hear it on the news, we had an ice storm up here in the northeast. We had a power outage where I got to spend the night in an elementary school gym with my kids so we didn’t freeze. Not to be put in a sour mood, I found nature’s beauty through my camera lens. January 12 - Tonight I was in Portsmouth, NH for the evening. I took this shot from Market Square at about 9:00 as the nearly full moon is about to hide behind this steeple.

June 9th - This is one of the many types of flowers in Portsmouth, New Hampshire's Prescott Park. I took a number of pictures in the gardens today practicing with my macro filter. I have no idea what this flower is but I like it.

July 26 - I found this lily beginning to open in the back yard this evening. It should be wide open tomorrow.

March 10 - I took Tom to physical therapy today as part of his recovery from wrist and elbow surgery. It appears that his therapist is tough. This guy worked his fingers to the bone. I sure hope Tom is more successful than bony here!

August 19 - Today I drove by a local garden center and decided to stop by. This was an opportunity to practice using my macro filter taking pictures of flowers. I took quite a few pictures and then came upon these pretty pink flowers. I was surprised to see this bee camping out here but he posed for several minutes so I could get a great shot.

December 31 - It looks like I lied on the 27th when I said it was my final Christmas photo of the year. Ribbon candy was on sale for 75% off so I couldn't resist. I arranged this colorful confection on a Wedgewood china plate (we don't use the china for dinner, of course). You can see a bit of the china in the upper right corner.

February 11 - I have been noticing that my candy jar was emptying while I was not home. Today I came home and caught my devil-bear red handed with a pile of candy in front of him.

February 2 - I don't think any groundhogs will be out around here. The Biddeford-Saco, Maine area has a lot of red brick buildings as well as white clapboard buildings. This is the only pink house with magenta shutters in the area, though. It looks like it should be on Martha's Vinyard island in Massachusetts.

January 17 - This old railroad bridge is still in use for freight trains, bypassing the nearby Saco passenger station. It was only four degrees when I took the shot this morning.
